MEET ANDREA

There is a you underneath all of it.

I’m Dr. Andrea Miller, a clinical psychologist offering therapy in San Francisco and Pacifica
and online throughout California.

Somewhere along the way, you’ve lost touch with yourself.

Maybe you find yourself thinking:

I’m not even sure how I feel or what I want anymore.

I overthink every little thing and second-guess myself constantly.

I try so hard to get it right, to please everyone, and still I wonder if I’m good enough.

In some ways, life hasn’t worked out as I had hoped, and I’m left wondering what comes next.

I want to know what makes you you.

There’s a you underneath all the trying, pleasing, achieving, and worrying.

Together, we’ll get curious about who you are beyond the roles and responsibilities you’ve taken on over the years, and explore how they’ve crowded out your needs, wants, and dreams.

With compassion, we’ll look at what keeps you from prioritizing yourself in your own life. We’ll consider how patterns you developed to keep yourself safe, often early in life, are now keeping you stuck and limiting your ability to create the life you’re yearning for.

You need a place where you can be fully yourself while you figure out what you actually want, maybe for the first time in a long time.

What our sessions are like:

You are welcome to bring all of yourself.

We'll go at a pace that feels right for you, and I'll meet what you share with empathy, openness, and respect. People tell me they can say things in my office they haven't said anywhere else, and that I understand what they mean even when they can't quite find the words.

I'll ask the questions that get you thinking. I'll point out the patterns running through your experiences, the ones that explain why you react the way you do, and I'll notice possibilities you haven't considered. Then we'll make sense of it all.

Expect me to speak up.

We'll look at this together.

We'll question the beliefs and expectations that keep you trying so hard, pleasing everyone, and worrying you're not enough. We'll update your core framework about who you are and what's possible. The new one includes your strengths, your values, and what you've learned from everything you've lived through.

Here's what starts to change.

You'll start to notice and question the critical voice that tells you you're not enough. In its place, you'll gain more self-compassion and self-acceptance. You'll build inner resources, skills, and strategies that give you better ways to respond to yourself, to others, and to the challenges you face. And you'll find it easier to treat yourself the way you'd treat a good friend.

Why I do this work

I learned early in my life what a difference the right therapist makes. While in high school, I went through a period of significant distress. I met with a therapist who helped me heal that pain, shift how I saw myself, and feel hopeful about the future again. I wanted to be able to do that for someone else.

Twenty-three years in, I still believe self-acceptance is the key to a joyful life. That's the work I care most about, and it's what I want for you.

Outside of the office, I'm an empty nester, a dog mom, and an avid photographer.
